At the Board of Education Workshop Meeting on November 29, 2021, President Trentacoste stated the following: "We know our community and parents have questions regarding the next stage of COVID-19 regulations – either loosening or strengthening. We have those same questions, as well as concerns about the timeline which we will be given to implement any new regulations that may come, not to mention the impact to our students, staff and community at large. As a Board, we have written a letter to local and state officials regarding these concerns. It has been shared and posted on the district’s website. We know there are varying beliefs about what should or shouldn’t be mandated in our schools and we urge our parents to advocate their personal positions to local politicians, before any further mandates are made to schools. The education and safety of students and staff are our priorities and we will continue to follow all mandated guidance from New York State and the Nassau County Department of Health. Thank you all for the respect you have shown regarding these mandates and for always keeping the best interest of our students a priority."
