2024-25 Budget Information

There are Two (2) open seats on the Board of Education this year.  The term will run from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027.  Nominating petitions can be requested via the District Clerk, Marybeth Altobelli, beginning February 1, 2024 at maltobelli@fpbsd.org.

The 2024-25 School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election will take place on Tuesday, May 21st from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

How do I find out if I am registered to vote in the Floral Park-Bellerose School?

In order to vote in the upcoming school budget vote and board election, voters must be registered with the Nassau County Board of Elections for the Floral Park-Bellerose School District. If you are registered, but have not voted in a general or school election since 2020, you must re-register. If you are registered but have either moved into the district or moved from one address to another within the district, you must re-register.

For this election, you may register with Nassau County Board of Elections at 240 Old Country Road, 5th floor, Mineola, NY (phone 516-571-2411) by May 10, 2024The form is available online at the Nassau County Board of Elections 

The registration date for the Floral Park-Bellerose School District is Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Floral Park-Bellerose School and John Lewis Childs School from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  

 Residents should register at the school for which they are zoned.

 

How do I run for the School Board?

There are two trustee seats up for election this year. The seat of Mrs. Beth Kierez and the seat of Mrs. Jaclyn O'Donohue.  The candidate will be elected for a full three-year term. (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2027). Candidate Packets can be requested through the District Clerk. Each petition shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the School District, shall state the residence of each signer and shall state the name of the candidate's seat they are running on. Each petition shall be filed in the District Clerk's office, One Poppy Place, Floral Park, no later than April 22, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. No person shall be nominated by petition for more than one separate office. Once elected, you will be required by New York State law to fulfill mandatory training within your first year of service. This includes fiscal oversight training and governance skills training. NYSSBA provides convenient online courses and regional academies to fulfill these requirements and to further your knowledge of public education and your responsibilities as a board member.  

 

Military Voter Registration

Military Voter Registration forms, located on the district website, MUST be received by the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2024.

Personal Registration for Military Voters will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at One Poppy Place, Floral Park.

Applications for Military Ballots MUST be returned to the Office of the District Clerk either by personal delivery or by mail no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2024. Absentee ballots will be sent to military voters no later than April 26, 2024.

Where do I vote?

Residents should vote at the John Lewis Childs School (School Election District No. 1) if their home is zoned for that school. Residents should vote at the Floral Park-Bellerose School (School Election District No. 2) if their home is zoned for that school. Inquiries should be addressed to the Office of the District Clerk, 1 Poppy Place, Floral Park, NY 11001 or telephone 434-2736.

 

How do I obtain an absentee ballot?

Applications may be obtained at the Office of the District Clerk, 1 Poppy Place, Floral Park between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays, or on the district website under the Departments tab and listed under 2024-25 Budget Information. Applications can be faxed to the District Clerk at 516-434-2739 or scanned and emailed to maltobelli@fpbsd.org Applications for an absentee ballot cannot be received prior to April 22, 2024. Applications must be received at least seven days before the election, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be personally handed to the voter (i.e., picked up at the District Office).

Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on May 21, 2024.

Who can vote by absentee ballot?

Any qualified voter may vote by absentee ballot if he/she is unable to go to the polls between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on May 21st due to reasons such as illness, COVID, hospitalization, an out-of-town business trip, or a vacation. College students, who are away at school, may also vote by absentee ballot.
